what I read this month

home for the holidays means more time to read

Just Kids - Patti Smith

found this recommended on Pinterest and it did not disappoint. hooked from the beginning. follows the rise to fame of Patti Smith. loved the backdrop of 70s NYC and the Chelsea hotel

Slow Days, Fast Company - Eve Babitz

still reading but know it’s a good one. beautiful descriptions of old LA. love how it’s divided into short stories.

Reena Spaulings - Bernadette Corporation

this one was mentioned it one of my art history classes last semester so I though i’d give it a try. written by over 150 people known as the Bernadette corporation I was intrigued by the collective authorship. As expected, it felt a little pieced together but otherwise entertaining to follow Reena on her escapades through the city

Funny Weather - Olivia Laing

I usually only read fiction for pleasure so this was a change for me. a collection of essays arguing for why art matters. nice to just pick up and read a section. wish there was pictures of the art referenced.
